Although fairly satisfied with the purchase and general running of the bike it’s began to let me down over the least few months, developing such problems as swing-arm, rear engine bushes and shock problems as well as a failed speedo clock. Although the X8 has done over 18,000 kilometers I think now is the time to start looking at something new… Now, I’ve always been a big fan of the Piaggio X9. Excellent seating position, split headlight configuration and added little tweaks that clearly make this scooter top of it’s class. So… why have I decided to go with something completely different ?A while back now I saw the pre release pictures of the Piaggio XEvo, which appears to be a cross bread between both the X8 and X9. At first I was with the rest of the crowd and seemed put off by it’s somewhat new styling. On reflection, and getting a chance to see the bike in the flash it’s not a bad look. The XEvo appears to share the same frame as the X8. – Keeping the X8′s excellent rear boot configuration – with the new and approved shared lid, along with the excellent under seat storage space. Going to the front the bike appears to have picked up styling from the X9. Where the X8 had a fully incased headlight configuration, giving it a less than subtle look, the XEvo has taen the twin headlihts from the X9.
